What inspired you to collaborate with OXI Instruments?

I had the chance to use OXI One very early on and I instantly connected with it. That sparked a great relationship with the team at OXI Instruments. If you’ve ever interacted with their customer care, you’ll know how much they value building genuine connections with artists. They truly listen to musicians and create tools that help us thrive.

How Did It Happen?

I’ve been in regular contact with Manuel, the founder of OXI Instruments, for many years. He has managed all aspects of OXI, from development to marketing and servicing. Whenever he had new ideas that needed video content, I was always eager to help without expecting anything in return. Supporting small companies is a passion of mine.

When the opportunity for a more formal collaboration arose, Manuel extended the offer to me. Having already been associated with OXI products for some time, it felt like a natural progression. It truly feels like I’ve always been part of the family.

How does your role at OXI align with your work as a musician, and what are you most excited to bring to the OXI community?

Balancing my life as an artist with working for a company can be tricky, but OXI has always appreciated my creative output, which makes this partnership seamless. My artistic vision aligns perfectly with OXI’s, so there’s a lot of synergy.'

I’ll be focusing on content creation, building relationships with artists, and contributing to the development of new products. I’m really excited to show real-world applications of OXI’s gear, featuring examples from musicians who love using their products. With my deep roots in the music community, I have the privilege of connecting with many incredible artists, and I look forward to sharing their insights on music and creativity with the OXI community.

What’s your favorite OXI product, and can you share some tips?

Without a doubt, the OXI ONE—it’s an essential tool for me. I truly believe it’s the most versatile sequencer on the market.

One technique I love is starting with a simple 5- or 7-step mono sequence and adding modulation using a mod lane set to a different division or step length. Then, I’ll harmonize it with another chord sequence, which I use to transpose the melody. It’s a quick and intuitive way to create beautiful progressions.

Another favorite trick is setting all sequencers to the same MIDI channel and using a mono synth. I’ll mute and unmute the sequencers, allowing voice stealing to create unexpected, glitchy results. It’s a great way to add a bit of unpredictability to my tracks.

If you were starting out in music production today, what advice would you give to beginners?

My biggest piece of advice is to start simple and focus on mastering the basics. With the sheer number of tools and options available today, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. I’d recommend choosing one or two pieces of gear or software that really resonate with you and spending time learning how to use them creatively before expanding your setup.

If I were starting out today, I’d go for a solid hardware sequencer like the OXI ONE and connect it to a DAW. This allows you to experiment with different VST synths before investing in more hardware, while still giving you the full range of composing features. Using a hardware sequencer alongside a DAW is also a great way to avoid the dreaded blank screen block—having tactile controls really helps spark creativity.

Lastly, I believe some of the best ideas come from working within limitations. Set yourself some strict rules, embrace them, and let your creativity flourish as you find ways to push beyond those boundaries. It’s often in those constraints that truly unique sounds and ideas are born.
